The four house development on the small site opposite the Post Office has gone ahead in spite of an objection to the original application from Kiltarlity Community Council which included fears of traffic problems, and unhappiness with house height and site size. The Community Council has now lodged a formal complaint with Highland Council and is considering taking the matter to the Ombudsman. Affordable housing in the field opposite Allarburn Shop has been put on hold because of difficulties with Scottish Water approval for the water supply side for the contract. The housing association, Albyn Housing, has been told that planning consent will only be forthcoming with a condition regarding an upgrade to the water supply, which say Albyn the project could not bear financially. This means that Albyn will not now be starting work during the current financial year. Approval has already been given in principle for 16 houses on the site.
