My family history
I've just returned to Wiltshire after a weekend around Inverness doing some digging around my distant family history. My Grandfather was manager at the British Aluminium Factory at Foyers and I have now traced our line back to William Fraser of Boblainy (1650's).
I plan to come back to the north again soon and would really appreciate somebody to show me any records you have of Boblainy

Mr. Fraser,

My name is Jeff Frazier, and I stumbled upon your post on the Kiltarlity Community Council website. I am descended from a Thomas Frazier, who was born in Scotland, and settled in North Carolina before 1750.

Little is known about Thomas, aside from his birth in Scotland, and his emigration to the American Colonies at an "early age." He is thought to have settled briefly in Pennsylvania before moving to North Carolina, where he had seven children with his wife Mary.

I have many distant cousins here in the States who have been trying to get past Thomas -- our genealogical "brick wall" -- for nearly 20 years! I have been reading all the information I can find on the Fraser families in Scotland, to see if I can find our ancestor among the stories of those who left Scotland for America.

I am currently trying to prove/disprove that Thomas Frazier is in fact Thomas Fraser, born in 1728 in Inverness. He is the son of Thomas Fraser, a merchant in Inverness, and his wife Jean Paterson, daughter of Matthew Paterson of Bught. Thomas Fraser (the merchant) was the 2nd son of Thomas Fraser, 2nd of Boblainy & Anna MacBean.

Since you mentioned your descent from William Fraser of Boblainy, I couldn't resist writing to you to request any information you might have regarding the Frasers of Boblainy in general, and specifically Thomas Fraser (b. 1728).

Sincerely,
Jeff Frazier

Robert Waugh
I would love to hear from anyone who remembers my father, Robert "Bob" Waugh (1928-1988), who was farmed out with the Fraser family in the early 1930s and I know attended the local primary school. He returned to Glasgow in the 1940s but did make occasional return visits, including at least one wedding, to Kiltarlity. I met a Mary Fraser when I visited Kiltarlity in 1997, who kindly allowed me to copy a photo of a family wedding in which my father was pictured, but unfortunately this copy was lost in a later house move. Any information from anyone who can remember my father would be appreciated.

Robert Waugh 1928-1988
I am seeking any information on my late father, Robert Waugh, who spent his early life "farmed out" (fostered)with the Fraser family in Kiltarlity and I know attended the primary school in the early 1930s. He moved back to Glasgow, his birthplace, some time in the 1940s, although I don't know exactly when. He had two brothers, Bill and Alec, who I believe also grew up in this area, but I am not certain. I did visit Kiltarlity once, in 1997 and met a Mary Fraser who gave me a copy of a photograph of Hugh Fraser's wedding, with my father in the photo, which was unfortunately lost during a house move. Any information from anyone who knew of or remembers my father would be greatly appreciated.

Pylons
Having been told of the Scottish and Southern Energy plans for these huge and dangerous pylons in your area I wish you every success with your campaign. All I can say is that they have neither care of the environment or the people of your area.

Good Luck!!
