Thomas Nairne I am searching for information on my late grandfather, Thomas Nairne. Born in Glasgow, he and his brother were boarded out with the Fraser family in 1901, when he was 5. We have no info on his early years at all, apart from that fact. Does anybody know anything? Posted by Esther Hubbard on 18 July 2011 Thomas Nairne 1901 There is no birth certificate for my grandfather Thomas Nairne who was born in Glasgow in 1985. The first mention of him is in the 1901 Census aged 5, living with a family called Fraser, together with his brother John William and other 'foster' children. We know nothing of his family. Can anyone shed any light on this? Did he go to Kiltarlity school? Posted by Esther on 13 July 2011 McIntosh Regarding Ann McIntosh, born 1855. She had a daughter Catherine who married Duncan MacRae. Catherine died in 1964 and Duncan died in 1970. Both may be buried at Tomnacross Cemetery. Any information on them and any descendents still living in the area (possibly Kirkhill)would be welcome. Thanks. Posted by Jim Cameron on 26 May 2011 McIntosh I am trying to trace Ann McIntosh born in Kiltarlity in January 1855. Her father was Benjamin McIntosh, born about 1818 and he was married to Catharine McLean. Any information greatfully received. Note that McIntosh can be spelt mackintosh, macintosh. Thanks. Posted by Jim Cameron on 22 April 2011 My family history I've just returned to Wiltshire after a weekend around Inverness doing some digging around my distant family history. My Grandfather was manager at the British Aluminium Factory at Foyers and I have now traced our line back to William Fraser of Boblainy (1650's). I plan to come back to the north again soon and would really appreciate somebody to show me any records you have of Boblainy Posted by Ian Hugh Fraser on 23 June 2009 Mr. Fraser, My name is Jeff Frazier, and I stumbled upon your post on the Kiltarlity Community Council website. I am descended from a Thomas Frazier, who was born in Scotland, and settled in North Carolina before 1750. Little is known about Thomas, aside from his birth in Scotland, and his emigration to the American Colonies at an "early age." He is thought to have settled briefly in Pennsylvania before moving to North Carolina, where he had seven children with his wife Mary. I have many distant cousins here in the States who have been trying to get past Thomas -- our genealogical "brick wall" -- for nearly 20 years! I have been reading all the information I can find on the Fraser families in Scotland, to see if I can find our ancestor among the stories of those who left Scotland for America. I am currently trying to prove/disprove that Thomas Frazier is in fact Thomas Fraser, born in 1728 in Inverness. He is the son of Thomas Fraser, a merchant in Inverness, and his wife Jean Paterson, daughter of Matthew Paterson of Bught. Thomas Fraser (the merchant) was the 2nd son of Thomas Fraser, 2nd of Boblainy & Anna MacBean. Since you mentioned your descent from William Fraser of Boblainy, I couldn't resist writing to you to request any information you might have regarding the Frasers of Boblainy in general, and specifically Thomas Fraser (b. 1728). Sincerely, Jeff Frazier Posted by Jeff Frazier on 23 April 2010 |
